Yekuno Amlak in the ceremonial robes of a heriditary Leul. Note that he also has a self-created 'Cap of Office' which bears a muted resemblance to the Zawid Talagarast (Imperial Crown).
የኩኖ አምላክ - Amharic : ‘Let Him be good to God’. Current head of the powerful Amlak family who holds Showa, Ifat and Menz provinces. The Amlaks are one of the handful of families whose ancient lineage grants them the highest hereditary social status of the empire. Some say that with this lineage comes imperial ambitions. Amlak is a hereditary Leul and also holds the military equivalent rank. Giving his son Sahle direct control of Showa province Yekuno Amlak has now settled in his newly acquired province of Mocha in conquered Himyar. It is rumoured he has begun hiring foreign shipwrights and is busy rebuilding the fortifications, coastal batteries, and harbour of Mocha and extending the shipyards.
